What kind of gain (hp) can I expect from replacing my mechanical fan with an electric one? Would anyone recommend doing this? It's an 02 Ranger 3.0L auto. Any tips, tricks, etc. to look out for if I do this?
Primary rig is Green Thunder:
95' F-150 XLT 4x4, 302, 5 spd, MSD 6A, Flowmaster Exhaust, Sunroof, Clear corners w/ Diamond headlights, CD player with 2 10" subs and some 32" BFG Muds .
I replaced the mechanical fan on my 94' suburban last weekend with a flex-a-lite electric fan. It made the engine smooth, quiet and gave it more power. In normal driving the fan does not come on, (it has a thermostat) only when you sit a long time or when the a/c is turned on it comes on. I'm very happy with it. After I do some engine work on my 81' f150 4x4 I'll put an electric fan on it. Its quick easy horsepower.
