1990 7.3 rough idle and missing
I really enjoy this FTE forum. You folks have been VERY helpful.
My new problem is rough idle and missing throughout rpm range. This cropped up all of a sudden. I thought I needed a new FF so I replaced it. Truck ran great for approx. 1 minute then back to original problem.
I have been reading that you folks plug "the line from #1 injector." Would you please explain that procedure? Any help would be greatly appreciated to get ol' Bessie running smooth again.
In April I replaced the return system rings etc. because of leakage.

This is my first diesel; I won't buy another because I already have one.
Thanks, Guys

Welcome to FTE and the IDI forum.
The return line from the filter to near the #1 injector has a check valve that is supposed to keep the fuel from draining out of the filter and filling with air.
Some people cut the line and stick a long bolt in both ends and then put a hose clamp on both ends to seal it.
Others have removed the fitting in the return header and installed a pipe plug there and used the bolt/clamp in the end of the return line.
Did what you said. I really appreciate your help. I found another little air/fuel prob and now ol' Bessie is well on her way to 278K!
