cant get the fuel pump out
hey I am trying to take off the fuel pump off my 1978 f150 with a 351m. I got it all un bolted and i cant get it out of the hole.
The power stearing is in the way. What do i do to get it out? It is a mechanical fuel pump

First get a big hammer and whack it repeately. Just kidding, probally have to remove the power steering pump to get it off. There is a arm on the pump that goes inside the timing cover, so you'll need the clearance to pull it all the way out.

The metal is frozen together, which sometimes happens when the fitting on the pump and the pump port itself are of different metals. get a good penetrating oil and soak it. Let it sit a while and soak it again. let it sit some more and then you might have to use some strength to break it free. If you have one, use a tubing wrench, which is like a box wrench but with a piece in the end cut out to fit over the tube. This will keep you from rounding off the corners of the fitting.
