Adding A/C from donor van

I am considering adding a/c from a junkyard van, I have not been able to check the donor out yet as the pick n pull yard is about 40 mins away, I am going to go check it out tomorrow as I need some other parts too. I did notice a bare plug near were the A/C would be (hoping that the wiring is there for it) . Has anyone does this before? Is there any other plugs I should look for on my van before attempting this?
what freon came in this year R12 or 134a?

Is your van a/c? Or are you putting a/c on it?

I need to get my a/c working. I also thought about putting a rooftop a/c unit near the back for extra cooling, South Carolina gets HOT.

There is no A/C on the van, I would of swapped the whole system into it. I went and checked out a donor van and I need to check to see if there is the wiring for it in my van. If there is not, then I am going to skip the project unless it can be hard wired in some how.

You should look into an add-on air system also. I did an add-on on my 89 van and all the electrical system was there. If you use a used unit from a donor unit you will be forever running back for another part. I did a factory changeover for a customer that wouldn't accept a hang on unit. We had the whole donor vehicle brought to the shop so I would have everything I needed. On the Ford pickup I did this on the hole in the firewall had to be partially closed off and recut to the right size and shape. An add-on system will bolt right in with minimal modifications if any. Nowadays you can't tell the difference between factory and add-on.

Is there a chance you could give me some more info about the add on systems?
I looked around on google and could not find much info about them
TIA -Dave
