Question Cab Wiring (through pillars) Question

So I want to reroute wires going to speakers in rear of 1973 F100... I do not want them under the floor anymore.

I know I can route wires through the pillar on the drivers side and follow the path of the wires that go to the cargo lamp. My question is if I can then go down the rear pillar and pull the wires out at the bottom of the rear pillar right behind the drivers seat. Is this possible? If so, where should I be able to drill?

I belive it should be possible, especially since later trucks have the 3-point belts that attach into the lower part of that pillar.

Also, does the same wiring ability exist on the passenger side?

Thanks,

JLS

I ***/u/me so..theres an empty space between the sheetmetal on the inside and outside of the trucks. If you use the right size fish tape I dont see why you wouldnt be able to do it....but...Im not sure if theres a space in the top of the door jamb...or if youd have to run it under the headliner for a while then back into the pillar at the back.

Yes, you can route the wires above the door. You can route them into the hole in the "A" pillar behind the dash, up through the "A" pillar along the top of the door jam in the area between the outside sheet metal and headliner attaching point and then down the "B" pillar. The "B" pillar is completely empty so drill your hole where ever works for you. This can be done on both driver and passenger sides.

After 40 years of installing two-way radios in vehicles I can vouch for the best fish tape you can use to run wires through them pillars. It is simply a speedometer cable. Those things are flexible enough to go through anywhere.
