I have but 40K miles on my 04' F150 and my CD player will not eject CD's. It is the single CD set up. Just returned from the dealer and they tell me the difference in CD's (home burn vs store bought) coud be the reason. I'm not buying that since it won't eject either nad used to work fine. It takes about 20 tries then finally enough comes out to get a hold of.
The dealer wants $400 to fix it. I plan on researching aftermarket systems. Any advice on a good AM/FM single or multi CD systems that will work for me.
Heres a link to Crutchfield. Anytime I need car audio I call these guys. They will get you something that fits great and sounds great. They supply you with any mounting hardware and trim panels you need at no additional cost. They include easy to use, printed instructions, and plugs to connect to factory wire harnesses(no slice and dice needed). You can use the website to punch in your truck data and it will recommend units that will fit. I bought a Pioneer system for my wifes Grand Caravan and a Rockford Fosgate system for my little Dodge car. They both are awesome. My F150 has the Premium Sound 6-disc, so I am somewhat pleased with it as is. Im sure that any middle of the road name brand unit will sound at least as good as our factory units .
BTW - I have always played home burnt CDs in my unit and had no problems. I now buy name brand discs because once I tried some cheapies I got off ebay and they started to flake off shinny flakes. Good thing I noticed it before I played them in anything.
I bought the kenwood dpx-501 for my truck it looks pretty good it is the double din size. Look on the crutchfield website and if you like it I can take a few pics and show you what it looks like in the truck. I bought mine from ebay 8 months ago no problems yet.
Just bought a stereo from Crutchfield for my 07 F150 XL. Got a Blaupunkt London mp37. LOVE it. It plays MP3'S has 2 aux inputs, 3 pre outs, and 4000 color choices for the background. It's cheap too, costs around 140 bucks, free shiping, free faceplate and wiring harness. Can't go wrong. I'd never tried blaupunkt, but it turns out that it's made by Bosch, and they make good electronics. Seems to be very high quality...
Another option if you want to keep that stock factory look is to try ebay. You can probably pick-up a factory unit with 6 CD changer for $100 to &150. There are always upgrading their radios and want to recoup their cost by selling their hardly use factory units.

You can also buy a used factory radio from a Salvage yard. There is not a lot of demand for them. I would also check with shops that sell and install sterios. They may have takeouts where people have upgraded.
It never ceases to amaze me how full of sh#@! the dealers become as soon as you buy a vehicle. Suddenly every knock, bang, and rattle is "normal" - every time something is screwed up, it must be your fault. BS!! If there is any way to press for warranty, I'd definitely jump on that. Even if you intend to upgrade, you might as well have a working factory unit.
If you do go for upgrade, I second the ebay route if you are looking to replace a factory unit. Crutchfield has always given me excellent service on the stuff I've bought.
Not that i am saying your dealership is write but i had a cd player that after a few years it wouldn't eject burned cd's. If you go with a 6 disc you have to make sure you get the one without amp or you will have no bass.
