i loved the presentation, i am in public speaking in college now and would love to have that kind of skill, it was a great learning piece.
the thing different, my opinion, that i think is the big difference between immigration now and then is that now, people are coming over mostly from one culture and then trying as hard as possible to maintain that culture and not only that, but trying to change everything around them to conform.
we do not have the same as little italy, china town or the russian sector, we have large swaths of areas and whole towns that are hispanic dominated.
plus, the languages i see on items now are....spanish and english, not quite the same as in the early 1900's, and i see it on everything, even the stupid drivers license place offers the test in spanish (but no other langauges besides english of course).
i feel there will be no stopping the problme now though, i would like to think it will be cured, but i think there are now way to many feel goodys and people with to much of a direct tie and loyalty to other immigrants, that are voters in this country and the tide will keep shifting in their direction.
i can't wait to see the hassle the US is going to give me when i am going to have my mother in law and sister in law fly here to visit us.
The recent "amnesty bill" debate didn't even address the "legal" immigration to the U.S. (1 million/year).....It only addressed illegal immigration....THAT is the shocking thing about the video......The 1965 immigration bill (family re-unification...no quotas for the western hemisphere) changed everything....and THAT is what the danger is and the video illustrated it.......The danger in the recent bill and the illegal immigration (like in 1986) situation and "amnesty" is that is makes instant citizens of millions, or 10s of millions of illegals at one gulp.....and these new citizens can then dramatically increase the "legal" family reunification which is still on the books (and has been since 1965)......It accelerates the process.....
The immigration situation is multi-faceted.....It ain't just the illegals, sportsfans......
And KT (post #13), the answer is modest increase in the native population.....The poor countries can only increase by so much before mother nature takes care of it on her own.....Unless, yes....1st-world technology and education is realized by the 3rd world and they naturally ease off on birthrates on their own.........
And oh yeah...I forgot........Massuchusetts....Can you kindly please....after 40 frickin' years....vote that stupid gasbag Kennedy out of the Senate?......Huh?.....Pretty please?.........(and to be fair, he ain't the only one....But he WAS one of the original proponents of the 1965 Immigration Act which got us into this mess in the first place.....Damn that POS has been around tooooooooooo long!)........

I would like to think that the events of the last couple of weeks has eased your despair just a little.......You give up too easily on this issue.......When you say that something can't be done, then you've lost most of the battle before the first shot was even fired.......
Just consider this please.......The current mess was totally created by government intervention (not an act of God).....It can be totally erased by government intervention also (with a strong push by an outraged electorate....)......
Also impactful was the way he illustrated how massive immigration doesn't help us, or them.
And how diluting the quality of life here fails to improve conditions elsewhere.
Whereas, not squandering America's riches, restoring respect for America, raising the standard of living here could lead us to the prospect of helping poorer countries.
I recently read that 40,000 people die every day from starvation.
Triton is right. The only way to get the people born elsewhere to stop wanting to come here is find a way to make them want to stay home.
It could give a new meaning to the war in Iraq.
why should it be our problem if someone starves in another contry? wasnt it there stupidity that caused this in the 1st place? realy look down there in africa with there aids problem, its just natures way of population control,if there that poor and cant feed themselves why do they breed?our tank is full put the cap back on and let the rest of the world deal with there problems
It's called "The Enemy Within"......A Fifth column of traitors (Senators and others in politics....as well as special interests.....) to the country....NO one on the outside can harm us...not as long as we're vigilant and remain strong.....However, there are those in power or with influence right here inside the country who appear (by ignorance OR by design) hell-bent on turning this country into a 3rd world country........
Good question........You might want to ask the ones making those decisions directly.......It's beyond MY understanding......but the end result will be, if unchecked, an overpopulated 3rd world country.......
and why turn it into a third world country? by accident? design? ignorance?
Because in a 3rd world country there are only two classes of people The Rich That are in power and the poor that is every one else. So why not the powers here be very Rich and the rest of us poor.
One possible reason for the Congress to want to legalize all the current illegal aliens and then some is because they will then be "new blood" paying into the train wreck that we call Social Security. Of course, that would just be a stop-gap measure until all those amnestified (new word?!?) started to retire.
