ok.. dont laugh... are ur blades on the fan going the "right" way? i have seen this on 2 occasions come into the shop... around town trucks running cool...pulling, hauling still cool.. cause the fan was still throwing air...but up above 45 the air coming thru the grill, and the air being pushed forward thru the radiator would create a wall ..NO air flow thru the radiator..... sound crazy? yup.. but have seen it twice.....one was an aftermarket fan..the other was a fan taken off a differant application from the junkyard...
yes the blades are going the right way. As far as the air coming out when I bump the engine, I heart it coming out into the valve covers. I stuck a piece of long hose into the oil fill hole and after I bumped it I could hear air coming out into the valve covers for about 2-seconds. Anybody know if this is normal???
what problems would leaky intake seals cause? I hear it on both heads.would it cause a high oil pressure reading ? cuz mine has been on the high side lately...
When you bump the motor with the starter you build up pressure in one or more cylinders. This pressure will leak down. If the valves are closed, it will leak past the rings and into the crankcase and out through the crankcase breather.
Take the breather off the valve cover with the motor idling and put your hand over the hole. Look for pressure coming out the breather.
Double check your exhaust system for collapsed or plugged pipes.
A plugged exhaust could cause excessive pressure and also overheating.
