Trans help

My 2003 F250 7.3l 4x4 Automatic without PTO ( i think that makes it a E40D) is in need of some care. when i bought the truck it seemed to shake (like being in to high of a gear for your speed on a standard) between 2 and 3 now if i drive it in second for a bit and let it warm up it is fine. also the odd time in reverse it wont engage unless you bring the engine idle up then it drops in gear really rough or if i go to drive 2 then back it will then work perfectly. recently i was driving on the highway and it sounded like the turbo was on for a long time so i pulled into a parking lot stoped at a stop sign and she wouldnt go... in any gear. let it sit about 2 minutes started it up and it moved 200ft. then stoped again same thing let it sit it did it again. i guess what i am woundering is if this might just be the hydrolic pump inside, T.C, really i have no clue whats up so if anyone could offer me any help i would be glad to hear it.

Thanks
Jason

First, it's a 4R100, not E4OD. 1998 was the last year for the E4OD.

Is the fluid level correct? Check it warmed up with the engine idling in park. Low fluid could do this.

While you're checking the fluid how does it look? Red, brown, black? Does it smell bad?

by your detailed description of putting it or getting it to go into gear, I'd say either the linkage is out of adjustment (not likely) or the majority of the clutch material is gone and definately needs rebuilt. Im willing to bet the fluid is brown to black and very pungent.

fluid smells fine and is the typical color althought i changed it about 15000km ago the levels are all good, the o/d light didnt blink so theres no codes the temps never got above the normal operating temps. there is a sqeeling sound coming from the front of the tranny wich made me think the pump was to blame. i went out yesterday and stated it and it moved fine but after a minute or two nothing.

thanks for the suggestions guys

When my diode locked up, no, you don't have it, the temps didn't get past 210 and yet the fluid was hot and burnt. All occured in less than 3 mins. What do you mean "it is the typical color although I changed it about 15K ago"?

Usually squealing in the trans is accompanied by squealing from the owner after he/she views the repair bill. IOW, I think you are screwed, transmission wise. Best give BTS a call. They can help you more and if necessary, which IMHO it is, they can set you up with another trans.
