03 edge 5 speed, 3rd grinds!

I find that I grind 3rd if I shift incorrectly - the shifter must travel up, over, and up again from 2nd to 3rd. If I 'cut the corner' and try to go more in a straight line from 2nd to 3rd, it will grind.

Sorry I had to rush when I was posting it. What is happening is after the transmission "gets hot" and i goto down shift back into third, then I have a grind. Most of the time it only happens when I directly down shift into third. I noticed that if I clutched and shifted to second then to third i woundn't hear a grind. And I make sure that I have the pedal to the floor. I just rebuilt 5th and reverse. I really don't want to rebuild the rest of the trans.
