All my buddies that have them have 1/2 tons, so i was wanting some opinions when the extra weight is thrown on them. I want to go in the 305-315 range.

The best advice to give you is to get a tire that will carry an equivalent amount of weight as an "E" range tire. It takes a little bit of shopping to find those, but don't under size the weight you want to carry. You can get equivalent "D" range tires that will carry just as much weight as "E" range tires. Talk to MRXLH about what he got for his truck. I know he did some research before he bought new tires since he carries a pretty good amount of weight regularly. Don't sacrifice your safety just for a look.

Hey another Ga. boy. I ran buckshots on an old Jeep CJ-7 and they were very rough and hard to keep balanced. Made more for true off-road. I did a lot of searching before I bought and really wanted TOYO Open Countrys but after waiting 4 weeks for the tire store to get them from Atlanta I gave up and went with the old BF Goodrich All terrains like you currently have but in a 315/75/16. Toyo and another brand called Hancook make a great agressive tire in larger sizes with higher weight ratings.
I recently put on a set of 285/75/R16 Toyo Open Country M/Ts and they are AWESOME! I used to have Super Swamper SSRs and the Toyos are like riding on AT's as compared to the Swampers. They took very little weight to balance and they are VERY quiet for such an aggressive tread pattern. They are everybit as smooth riding as the Firestone AT's that my mom has on her X and that my dad has on his 250. I think that's a pretty impressive feat for a M/T.
