Question Earl Scheibb Paint Job?

Anyone ever got an Earl Scheibb paint job? I'd be interested in hearing about it as I'm considering one. Thanks.

Well lemme see here, Earl Sheibb paint jobs. For a similar feeling just take the money out of your wallet and wipe your butt with it. Most likely after you get the vehicle back you're going to be shaking your head and babbling something about seeing them in court. Now the whole small claims court idea really won't scare them since they get sued about a dozen times a month from people who can't seem to understand why a paint job for $100 bucks would turn out looking like Stevie Wonder painted it with a sandblaster.

Just my $.02 but hey, feel free to try them out. Realize one thing though, there's a reason why paint jobs are as expensive as they are.

Had one done on my 58 Edsel back in 1964 for $29.95 I did all the prep and masking. Came out pretty good.

Each shop has different painters so some will probably be better than others. The lower price means less time involved in preparation. I wouldn't take a show truck to them, but if you ensure that the prep work is properly done before taking it to them you might end up with an okay job.

HeHe he's not exagurating. It slaves me how all these quicky places demand that they put a "Sealer" coat on the car.

I know why. I was in that trade for 15trs. It is to keep other spot repairs from lifting with the addition of their paint.

By the way I've seen paint lift once or twice in 15yrs.

The thing is this is a nonsanding sealer.
the car is sanded and taped. Sealer is sprayed and then the paint.

The problem comes from the paint not adhearing to the sealer.

I've seen fleet truck's painted. Then you stick some masking tape on it and when you pull the masking tabe the paint comes with the tape, leaving the Gray sealer exposed.

I have NEVER wored in a shop that put a sealer on a vehicle.

A buddy of mine years ago did that to a Baja Bug. it looked fine, except the lazy Ba@*!d didn't even lift the hood to spray in the jam's.

this thing was striped. no rubber or windows in it.

We actually don't have a Earl Scheibb here.

We have Fact-O-Bake aka Fact-O- Flake.

"I'll paint any car any color for only $29.95, RIIIIGHT!"

I've used them a few times and was actually satisfied with the work for the price. Its best that you do your own sanding and masking. An Econoline that I was trying to sell had a peeling airbrushed mural on the side and was rusting in one corner. $100 to the Earl and it looked so good that it sold within a couple of days. The key to finding a good chain paint shop is to go in the afternoon and inspect the completed cars waiting for customers to pick them up.

I wish I COULD get my paint job for 100 bucks. I have a 91 F150 Supercab, (granted its longer in cab, but only has a 6.5 foot bed) I took it in to Earl Scheib for the NEXT to the bottom paint job, (NO bodywork) Just sand prime paint I was told 500 - 700 bucks. I figure if I am going to end up with a ****ty paint job anyway, I might as well try to do it myself and learn something. At least I will be getting something for my money!

From what I have read on MANY MANY MANY forums, if they aren't twins they at least come from the same family! (read as yes)

Do it yourself! Before I would pay for a crap paint job I would paint it myself. I meen really what have you got to loose? I just painted a 91 Ranger a daily driver wit over a 1500000 miles on her. Just parked it under the carport did my prep work and sprayed it with that new dupli-color lacquer. It looks great, sure its no show truck but for less than 150.00 bucks it looks sweet to me. If you watch powerblock tv I painted it with a dazzel camo paint scheme that they used on the " Low buck bronco " project on Trucks.
