Well it finally happened, transmission died. It only revs up in forward; will back up no problem; Trans temp was climbing as I tried to go forward. Only problem is I'm stuck in Millington Tn. on TAD orders and can't change it out myself. We're working 6 days a week and it's going to be impossible to change out myself.
I really want a BTS and I think I'm going that way. My plan is to have one delivered to a repair shop here in Millington. Do you guys think that is possible? I know most shops will want to put their transmission in.
I have a ford dealership here and also a small transmission shop. Do you think Ford would put in a BTS transmission? They will probably charge me an arm and leg but I might have to go that way.
I'm going to call BTS, Ford and the small trans shop tomorrow. Just needed to vent some frustration and this site always has the answers. The truck has 152k miles so I'm figuring it was about time. Thanks for any advice you guys can give. Mark
I would ask them to separate their pricing between putting in one of theirs and labor to do so. Then try to hold them to their labor for the BTS install. I feel for ya. Good luck.
Man, you are so close, about 3+ hours and so far away. I would like to help but don't see how. BTS is another 3+ hours from there in the other direction. Good luck.
Thanks for the inputs. I'm really between a rock and a hard spot. I was looking forward to getting a BTS but as we speak the truck is in a shop here in Tn that rebuilds transmissions. Being stuck here and having the Navy work me 6 days a week has left me no choice. The shop specializes in building heavy duty transmissions for diesels. Better than a rebuilt from ford but not a BTS.
If it had only failed while I was closer to home I would have had more choices. Mark
