Removing Downpipe

well i've the rest of my exhaust removed, the downpipe is loose i just can't get it out, any tips for this from you guys on here who have done it before?

if you mean out of the engine bay once it is off the turbo then you have to either remove the tranny cross member...or cut it.

cut it as faaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr up there as you can.

i'll cut further up, what about sliding the new one in? is that any easier than removing?

depending on what system you got most should be a two piece design....if your new DP isnt dont waste time cuting your gonna have to drop the member anyway.

it is a 2 piece, i'm just wondering how i'll be able to stuff it up there if i can't even get the stock sucker out

the first one will slip in there just got to wiggle it and once it up there put the band clamp on snug it down then put the other half up there.

after you drive it with a huge grin on your face let it cool then retighten the clamp.

You will need to remove the cross member, and jack the tranny up to hold it in place. Once you do that you just have to spend some time maneuvering it out.

an extra set of hands is awesome for putting your new DP in.

yeah i'm still removing the stupid cross member, gotta love how one side they are 19mm, other side are 15mm kinda loose and the middle 21mm with slight play

see, i knew there was some guys on here with no problems gettin it out, i finally got the new one up but just waitin for a second set of hands to get here, i had to cut a engine hoist bracket off aswell to get the thing out, ohwell, sure feels good now that i have the new one up just waiting to be attached, seems like the rest should be pretty easy now
