Well the other day i left the yard for school and got about 2km from home and went to turn a corner....i downshifted into 3rd but didnt feel the gear like i usually do...so i put it into 2nd to go around the corner and pressed the pedal but nothing happened...it just revved up. So i stopped made sure i was properley in 2WD with my transfer case and it was..tried again...got nothing...went to 4WD...tried agian...nothing...so i dropped it into 4-Lo and it worked..so i drove home in 4-Lo....but i cant get it out of 4-Lo now.
So i know its my transfer case that is causing the problems...but what would kause it to stick inside?...does it have a clutch system? or a C Claw that grabs gears and synchros like in a transmission?...is this going to be an expensive fix?....i can pull the transfer case myself and do the work..my dad and i rebuilt the whole transmission and rear-end ourselves...so i hope a T-case isnt much harder.
i started taking it out tonight but never got around to finsihsing it...so i am just wondering what i can expect once i crack the T case?
also my truck is in my signature if your wondering what specs it is and such.
you got me only think i know is the trucks had a bad problem with water getting in the transfer threw a vent hose. might be rusted up. try this get all four wheels off the ground and start the truck. put in frist gear and turn all the drive terain. then try to get it out of four wheel. also is it manual four wheel drive or eletronic
it is a manual 4WD....also we pulled it apart...ended up being the shift fork...the wedges that hold the disc in place on the fork were completely gone...only had one side left....
should look like this |_| on each end..and it looked like this |_ so in other words...it slid and would shift into 4WD...but nothing to take it back out.
so i ordered the parts from ford...should be here Tuesday/Wednesday
