mystery pinion seal- numberdummy help!

hi all,
just went down to the normally reliable NAPA to get a pinion seal for the ford 9" on my 57 f100, brought the whole pinion flange, and they still couldn't find my part.
at least i thought it was the original 9"- it looks just like the one in my shop manual pictures.
it looks like most of the front of the pinion flange is part of the aluminum(?) seal holding the rubber seal. the whole seal housing looks like it is a press fit into the pinion flange and is about 4" diameter.
does this sound familar to anybody?
the machinist was hesitant to pull it to look for a part # if he didn't know they could replace it.
thanks
andy

Don't be to quick to buy a pinion seal for your 9 inch rear axle. There are two different ones used 1957/60.

B7A-4676-A .. Pinion Seal ~ 4 1/8" O.D. ~ 21/32"-thick

B8A-4676-B .. Pinion Seal ~ 3" O.D. ~ 1/2"-thick ~ Industry Number: A-1205-P-770

I couldn't find an industry number for B7A-4676-A. FTE sponsor GREEN SALES has B8A-4676-B (800-543-4959).

Further research: Both the above pinion seals have the same Inside Diameter = 1 13/16". The flange used for B7A-4676-A is: C3SZ-4851-A. By using the car parts catalog (C3SZ = 1957/60 F100 & 1963/66 T-Bird), I found another pinion seal = E2TZ-4676-A that you may be able to use in place of B7A-4676-A, since 1963/66 T-Birds use this seal, and the SAME flange as your F100.

>>> E2TZ-4676-A is available from your local Ford dealer. $18.76 list price.
