Transcommand VS. Superchip for the tranny shift fix
As I understand the Transcommand it raises the line preasure in the transmission providing firmer underload like shifts.
As I understand the Superchip it re-programs the shifting pattern. Does it correct the actual shift problem Ford created in the original programming?
Looking for recommendations or help.

Well, Will, when you say "the actual shift problem Ford created in the original programming", I'm guessing that you're referring to the slow, super-soft upshifts. Am I correct?
I've had the Superchip on my '99 F-250 LWB, SD 3.73LS SC V-10 Lariat for over 20,000 miles now, and I'm completely satisfied with it. The shifts are very firm, but not harsh, and seem to be what Ford should have designed into the truck.
Don't forget that the Superchip reprograms the powertrain control module, not just the tranny, so you can expect a little extra punch from the engine, as well. The timing changes require that you switch to premium gasoline, but the gas mileage is essentially unaffected. The net effect is that you pay a little more at the pump for the performance increase.
Hope this helps you decide.
Tom
