Hey guys.....Havn't posted in a while....Been into motorcycles lately...and motorcycle forums.
Anyway... Still drive my rig when weather does not permit motorcycle riding.
Sure has been saving me in fuel as I commute 110 mile round trip to work each day.
Rainy most of last week...Have been getting a rattle from under the floorboard on passenger side. Took all week to figure out with rainy weather and all and lack of time.
After checkin shocks...leafsprings...wheel bearing suspected....u joints....exuast pipe touching...looking allover.
Finally...the last place you look is where you find it.
Turned out to be the front swaybar up link. Took it off and wa la ... quiet and smooth. The truck actually seem to be a smoother ride with one link removed.
However...bought both links from the Dealership today and replaced them.
By the way...left and right side up links on the front swaybar are not exactly the same...One side has a little more crook to it..
Anyway...Just thought I'd share where my rattle noise was coming from. After doing a search on "swaybar link"...seems that a lot of others have had to replace the links or the bushings also. If I would have done the search before...it would have probably saved me a lot of time finding the rattle.
Yea, before I knew better I purchased a stock one, they will last a while, hopefully longer for you, but eventually the ultimate and actually cheaper solution is polyurethane bushings. But hopefully yours last longer then the one I replaced on my boss' truck.
I had the same problem- I replaced the sway bar mount bushings (did little for the noise) then the links (killed the noise) and for an extra half hour of maintenance (and not being at work) I replaced the spring teflon rub strip thingees, slathered them with white hitch ball grease, and no more "fat guy getting in truck" squeaky spring sound hehe.
