Lowered 76
1. I want to use polycarbonate instead of glass in the side and back windows. This would eliminate the vent windows. Anyone know if there is a stock year window gasket/anti-rattle set that would work from a latter year truck?
2. Anyone with have an idea for fabricating/installing a lightweight window mechanism.
3. Does anyone make fiberglass bumpers for this truck?
Thanks
Mike
You could check here for power window kit, near the bottom of the page:

Or look here: http://www.yearwood.com/store/produc...s=&id=ROCPKW01
I have no experience with these, so you might have to do your homework on them. Better yet, contact the suppliers directly to ask your specific questions.
As for felts/weatherstrip, I think it is best to stick with the year you need, meaning '73-'79 truck kits. You can get the repros through the FTE sponsor.
Got any pictures so far of your progress?

It is a step side. I know that I can install power windows set for flat glass. I was thinking something more along the line of the manual systems that they put in the factory drag cars. Really a strap mechanism to save weight.
The fiberglass doors don't have vent windows. I would like to elimante them, rather than retrofit the doors. Besides, part of this exercise for me is to try to see how light I can make this thing. I am planning on fabricating the rear bumber out of 5" aluminum U channel. It matches the stock rear bumper pretty closely.
Also am retrofitting a 460/C6 combo if anyone has exerience with this swap or header setup, please let me know.
I used the OEM style towers and mounts, I got them on ebay. For the tranny I had to get creative: I used a lincoln C6, which is longer and uses two small 'square' rubber pieces for a rear mount.. I drilled two holes and bolted the tranny to the xmember.
I ended up going with a floor shift due to the tranny linkage being 'backwards' (I now realize TCI sells a piece so that this linkage problem doesn't occur anymore)
As for headers, I don't recall what I used..local guy gave them to me since he gave up on his 77. I had to notch the crossmember for them, other than that no issues.
Radiator was the stock 302 w/AC radiator with a lincoln OEM clutch fan. I carved up and fiberglassed the fan shroud to fit.
On an 85 degree day, the truck doesn't get past the first line of the letter "N" in normal.
I would like to know about these 'straps' for power windows too.
I have always wanted the DJM dream beams. Hope to do it some day soon!
