Typically people see about 5-10 psi when shimming. Depends on the shim size used. This is primarily to help force more fuel into the heads, which will help promote better injector filling in the less than ideal deadhead fuel system, mostly #8 injector. The only way to get more fuel past a given point is to make the restriction larger, or add more pressure. There are a few other better ways of attacking this, but that is the cheapest. The better alternative is either a full on Regulated Return or the CCK.
