reassembly
Check out this link. it looks like you can do it it in your truck with a few specialty tools.

I'm sure someone will be along shortly that has actual working knowledge instead of theoretical.
Unless you assembled the guide/valve/spring/keepers before you dropped them in. In this case you need the valve assembly pry bar to pull down on the spring until you can get the clip in. The valve on the seat is holding it up too high by the spring pressure. Does that make sense?
Might need three hands. I usually assemble the valve/guide/spring in the valve chest, but that presents its own set of issues. Hint - a little grease on the keepers will help hold them in place........ and takes a long reach valve spring compresser. Plug all the holes where a keeper can fall into the crank case and keep needle nose pliers handy as well as a good light!
thanks guys i geuss im gonna buy the pry bar as the son in law and i aren't small and dont quite fit into the same area easily and i will take all the info i can get ! never too old too learn .
I've also done it MT's way, with an OHV spring compressor. He's right on, you need nimble fingers and good lighting. If everything is clean and lubed, it goes fast. Remember, on the assembly line, they put them all in, in less than a minute!!
