I just bought a back up camera system for my 98 E-150 cargo. The camera hooks into the reverse light wires. However the fuse is blown for that circut. I don't have a manual and Ive searched everywhere for what fuse runs the reverse lights with no luck. If someone can tell me the number, Ill post up the finished pics.
It's in the underhood power distribution box. I forget which one though. You can download your owners manual from www.motorcraft.com
Thanks for the link! However I read carefully, line by line off the manual and all I could come up with was "trailor back up lamps" It is a 30A full sized fuse. Is this the fuse for the vans back up lamps as well? I could not find "back up lamps" or "reverse lamps" in any other fuse location in the manual. I would not have this problem if the tool who owned the van before me wouldn't have spliced into the reverse lights to install a back up sirun. The wire he installed was not grommeted and came in contact with bare metal!
fwiw: At least on the earlier Fords, the backup lamps are a direct connection, without a fuse, going through the reverse switch and its fusible link at the starter relay.
I was thinkin about buying one of those too, but I think I will hook mine up to a switch. don't think I want it to come on every time in reverse. plus I may want to use it to check my trailer load while driving. my two.
