Tranny help/A4ld
89 Mustang/2.3/A4LD tranny. I pulled the tranny today because it was spewing fluid from the bell housing. So I said to myself "Ok front seal is shot" Before I pulled the seal, I tried to see if there was a tear in the rubber.
I couldn't find anything to warrant this much fluid leaking, so I pulled the seal. As everyone knows you can't do this without destroying it. On further insp. I noticed some hairline cracks just inside the bolt pattern that holds the bell housing to the tranny. So my question is. Can these very small cracks cause it to leak after it heats up. It did not leak when it was cool or very short miles.
I don't want to put a new seal in, thinking problem solved, without verifying the small cracks mean nothing. I tried to take pics, but they are so small they don't show up. Please put a smile on my face, so I can put this back together. As he says with his fingers crossed
