r22 freon

anyone know the functional difference between r12 and r22 industrial freon? i was wondering what it would take to retrofit an r12 ac system to r22, as i can get it for free from work.

In a nutshell, it won't work. The operating pressures are very different and it will attack the rubber in an R-12 system. (It's also illegal IIRC).
Why not use R-12 or R-134a and do it right? Free will be worth exactly what you pay for it.
