WHEN TO ADD CHIP

A little help please
I have a f350,crew cab,duelly,7.3 4:100 rear end-PSD WITH THE LA WEST PACKAGE.
Great truck love it but i just have 800 miles on it. I tow a large 5th wheel 38 feet 13,500 lbs. I want to chip it with a superchip. But I feel it maybe to early to do it now. I'm going on 3500 mile trip towing the 5th wheel. A friend said put it in after the trip because of add power maybe hurt the turbo. any help would be fine thanks Joe
ps I just traded same truck but with v10. towing 7 mph and normal 12.5.... the psd 12.5 mph just starting i know it will get better after brake in and tow alot better

WHEN TO ADD CHIP

Joe: It really makes no difference when you chip your truck. I have chipped Powerstrokes with 1/2 mile on them and also with 200,000 miles on them. There are 5 dealers in this area that sell the trucks new with a chip as part of the deal. The chip is not a cause of wear on any of the truck parts. The right foot is the cause of wear and tear on the engine.
You will see an increase in mileage at between 8,000-10,000 miles. This is when the engine is broken in. You will see this increase with or without a chip. I really think that if you ask anyone here that has chipped their powerstokes, they will tell you to chip it now, before your trip. Your truck will tow so much better with the added torque.
Thanks
Danny
