Raising GVW

Leaving the b.s. out,if I put a D60 rear axle in my 77 f150 i should be able to raise my payload cap. .I got a 25' cattle trailer with a pin weigt of 1,300 which is nothing in my dually but id rather use my ford instead.so im looking into beefing up my rear axle to handle the weight.I know its gonna squat and ill put thicker springs, but in a way that D60 should make my truck able to handle as much as a 250 right. After all its the same frame exept for the axle and springs.

Thanks

The rear D60s aren't really the strongest axles out there, and a D70 or even a newer rear axle like a sterling 10.25 would be better. Which ever axle, look for something with a 4.10 gear ratio, and possibly a limited slip, and like you said put some stronger springs or put in one or two more.

Don't forget about something to stop it. I'm guessing trailer brakes, but either way, a F350 brake booster and master cylinder with 250 or 350 calipers will have dual pistons for better stoping power.

I would buy a bigger truck f350 ,or buy a parts f350 to swap on yours.
