Ok, I am in Iraq and my wife just called me. It seems that the overflow fitting on the radiator has broken off. This is the line that runs to the overflow or tank.
The piece is of course plastic. If memory serves, this radiator does not have a cap on the tank.
Does someone know if there is a fitting kit available. I am sure my wife could drill, tap the tank and screw in a fitting. Or more specifically, a repair shop could do this.
I am apprehensive about her taking this to the dealer for fear of the $1000 rule. That is, every time I deploy, and my wife takes a vehicle to a dealer, it costs me $1000.
I would go ahead and replace the whole rad, if the plastic is getting brittle something else will brake soon. Aftermarket quality replacements like Modine are available for less than $400, most of the apps I look at run between $150 and $300. Installation should only cost 2 hours of labor.
