The mechanical attachment for the Superchips performance chip is the electrical connection and a piece of tape. Since this is the most expensive of all the performance chips I would think that they could at least come up with a bracket to mount the chip securely instead of recommending a piece of tape.
Kind of disappointed, Danny, since I like to use my 4 wheel drive and have been know to rough up a vehicle a little. I guess I'll be leaving my kick panel off from now on.
Beth: I am really sorry that nonwe of the chip manufacturers supply a clip with their chips. Our chip has a 6 month satisfaction guarantee. If you are unsatisfied for any reason whatsoever, we will gladly refund your money. I must say that we have yet to have a chip come out of an ecu from 4 wheeling. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make your buying experience pleasurable.
Thanks
Danny
You are correct, Hyper?? sends a metal bracket to hold down the ECU, not the chip. We don't remove the bracket for the ecu. On a 93 F150, the ecu is located behind the kick panel and mounted with the port up. I would venture to say that if you hit a bump hard enough to knock the chip out of a 93 F150, computers would be the least of your worries, dentures most likely would be high on your to do list.
Thanks
Danny
I fully intend to order one of the superchips, when I get some funds together.
But as far as the others are concerned, I really don't like the idea of a plug in module that goes between the wiring harness & computer (too many chances for water to get in) Plus there is some extra heat in my engine compartment due to the headers.
