Scorpio: You could run regular fuel, but then, why install the chip? The power gains are from advancing the timing for the use of premium fuel. You would see little or no gains with a chip on regular fuel, so why install it???
Thanks

The main thing I want out of the chip is the change it will make in the transmission shift patterns.

Scorpio: You are correct, the chip will improve the shifting tremendously. You may not get pinging on regular fuel, but, you wopuld not get any noticable horsepower increase either. The best way is to just try it. It is cheaper than a shift kit.
Thanks
Danny
