I am planning on pulling my tranny in the next little bit to replace my torque converter and doing the trango tugger kit,
One of my BIGGEST complaints is that on the freeway in OD with the converter locked, if I approach a hill and need to accelerate up it, the tranny will shift and unlock the converter. It taked my RPMs from 1300-1500 up to 2500-2800. Anyone running this unit? how does it perform???
havent heard of any one running this, though it sounds pretty good with all that it does, i have read that before, most folks here do the toggle type lock, its a home made type job with a toggle and an led with a few snap locks and a little wire, and you lock and unlock it when you want too, total cost, about 15 bucks versus the 400.
This is an exellent mod, but I think that I would like to take it one step further.
I was planning on getter an ON/OFF/ON switch and making like this:
First ON it would bypass my box and give control to the PCM... This way I can lend my truck out and not have to explain how a TC works
OFF would be off, so no converter lock, This would cure my problems of my truck down shifting and unlocking the converter. Now if I am towing I can just unlock the converter without a downshift.
ON would be a manual lock....
This will give me full control of my TC, but also allow me to be lazy while not towing and let my PCM do its thing....
I made a master switch on the dash an a old school dimmer switch on the floor, that way i can use the floor switch like a clutch at red lights an stop signs.

Did he say lend his truck out,
the only persons I would lend my truck to are fellow FTE members, and then I would offer to help him in doing what ever he needed my truck for.
Forgive my ignorance but in stop and go traffic isnt this going to be a full time job of off/on switching of the TC, wont it die if you come to a stop with it locked up? Can you leave it locked unless you know your coming to a complete stop?
It's just like the real thing once you get use to it,an it serves the same purpose. Its is a little hard to get use to , but I drive a truck for a living so it wasn't so bad.
When It shifts to 2nd I lock it up an it stays that way till i have to stop.If I'm in town i don't mess with it ,just run it normal an let the pcm handle it.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Hate being the friend with a truck. Did you guys know that they rent trucks for folks who don't have one? Makes me feel like I should borrow a friend's mustang cobra because today I just want to drive really fast in a car and you have one of those. Oh yeah, but so is asking me to borrow my truck when you have a convertible.
