I've done some searching and am having a hard time finding air intakes for my 85' F-150, does anyone know of any company's who sell them for this year. I checked K&N and they didn't have any. Or will I just have to modify one? Thanks for any help.

 

What are you trying to accomplish ? Pretty hard to beat the factory setup. The factory setup is already a CAI unit, and in the case of the 302 EFI systems, is plenty big enough for a stock or even more than slightly modded engine.

If you are looking at a snorkle system, there is a pretty good discussion going on right now in the full size Bronco forums. You should be able to get some good ideas there.

Thank a lot, I'm new to this whole truck thing, I orignally bought it as a work truck, but I'm starting to work on it here and there I just wanted to get as much air to the engine as possible.

It's the 302 EFI, if getting an intake wont really do much it would definitely save me money.

 

Welcome to FTE by the way ! You will find a incredible amout of knowlegable, helpful people on here.

You are starting with a fairly efficiant package to start with. More gains could probably be had in the exhaust system than the intake. It would help to reduce the restriction in the exhaust sysyem - High flow cat and muffler, larger tube(s) come to mind.

Are you running the AOD or manual?

Ya I'm actually planning on installing an exhaust this saturday with a friend.
It's AOD.

 

Sounds like a winner on the exhaust. Best mileage that I have ever achived out of my 86 F150 4x4 supercab, AOD, 3.55 gears, all stock w/stock rims and tire size is 22.8 mpg. May have been a fluke thing, but I was traveling in convoy with the 86 Bronco, and it was only returing 15 mpg, although it was lifted and had big tires.

Just for a copmparison, I have no idea of where you are at mileage wise, but normally I run 18 or so on the hiway, 14 -16 mpg overall. All in town can drop down to 10 - 12 mpg.

You rig will return equal mileage to a manual on the freeway, (with the same overall gear ratio) as the AOD has a 100% lockup top gear. City driving will be somewhat less than a manual though.
