im gunna do the 10k ohm resistor mod, but i was wondering if i can use a 15k ohm resistor. i mean, more resistance raises pressure right?. and i was wondering if i should wire in a switch, or if i can use a potntiomiter to vary the resistance? any answers would help. oo and anyone who has doen thin - does this give u a little smoke?
The higher the resistance the less the difference, So a 5k will raise the pressure more, Ya wont see a big performace increase but is worth the time. I had a switch on mine years ago. I could turn it off so i would'nt get a loppy idle. You could us a potentiometer....outta work.
Yes it does give you a little smoke and you may be able to tell a difference. I couldn't tell at first but as I got used to it I could tell there was more power. If you go more than 10K watch your exh. temps. especially when pullig a load.
I put mine in without a switch but wished I put one in now I have to make a new one and install it with the switch. Do it the first time if you have time. This will allow you to turn it off if you are pulling a big load and she gets hot. Also to smooth out idle while in a parade. LOL. I like the rough idle mine has. Reminds me what is under the hood.
just put in a 10k ohm. our trucks can't keep up with the 5.6k ohm resistor's. i have the 10k without a switch and i can tell every time that it vibrates out of place b/c when i stomp on it at a stop light it's pretty sluggish, but when it's in... i can feel a difference, but not a big difference. oh yeah and it does smoke some.
