Does your Excursion sound like the front end is about to fall off? Going over any road seams, potholes, or pedestrians would cause mine to make me cringe, just waiting to see what important parts were about to come off.

I have read all the posts on www.ford-trucks.com and the www.blueovalforums.comforums, plus TSBs, and have tried everything suggested. But here is the first thing that has worked:<o></o>
The sway-bar bushings may look brand new, but they have become very hard. Remove the bushings and insert a small piece of flat rubber between the bushings and their housings.
i replaced my bushings and it made a big difference in the stability of the front end but its still scary over stutter bumps. i have not checked my ball joints yet..by a mechanic anyway....but one i get the steering damper on i hope its better...i replaced them with stock ford parts
You need to get the steering stabilizer. It works GREAT and is fabricated by a guy on this site. I think his name is "BriansF250"? Search for steering stabilizer.
yes i have it and its installed but i do not have a shock yet. I have ordered 2 times but i get the ones like the normal shocks...im going to a local performance shop and see if i can get one there...
is this the so called C or D bushing? Someone have a little more info. how big is the piece of rubber you are puttin into the bushing. Maybe a little illistration drawing. thanks.
I solved my frontend noise today too. Seems whoever swapped this XLT bumper onto my limited left one of the bolts that holds the bumper on loose. Whole bumper was shaking around a lil bit. Tightened it ujp and now all is quiet other then something in my drivers door lol.
For those of you who have requested more information or photos- I did not do the work myself, it was done by my mechanic. I do not have any photos and don't know enough about the truck to take photos of the correct part. Sorry about that; I used to do my own work, but the new vehicles are too complex for me now. I had been to several different garages and this mechanic in Fredericksburg, Virginia was the first one to solve the problem. I'm glad that some of you benefited from the info.
Bushing,, what bushing,, I ain't got no stinkin bushin.
Ok now I assume we are talking about the sway bar end links. I have the two end links off and removed two defective busings and planning to use the new end link repair kit for $8.95 just to see how this works.
Might not even be able to get the new endlink parts in with out a press but we will know after they arrive.
So where does this little piece of rubber go? Pics?
I dont have my truck with me today but im assuming its the standard style swaybar endlink. One end goes around the swaybar end, other end goes into some kind of bracket. It should look like this.
On another note, sionce this is a common recurring problem has anyone thought about useing a solid style endlink? There should be some greasable ones out there and as long as they dont see road salt should last a while id guess?
The kit is available at rockauto, autozone and if I remember correctly Napa.
Just ask for the kit. It is the rubber type bushings minus the metal end link.
WARNING though it is difficult to remove the old bushing w/o a press and I used a saber saw to cut the old rubber out, then a socked the correct size and a 16oz hammer to persuade it to leave the housing. I am hoping the new ones go in easier than the old came out.

?
NOPE that's not them. The links have a round eye on each end with a bolt through them and a rubber bushing. They don't need lube salt won't affect rubber as far as I know.
