4r100 Question
OK, you guys will have to be patient with me because I dont know the name of all the parts and will probably have trouble describing them... But here it goes.
I am into my 4r100 changing the pump bushing. When I took the pump out the big gear inside was pushing up. The OD spring retainer had come off (common problem from what I hear). I replaced it with a split spiral retainer. Now I am trying to get the big gear thing just under the pump back in. I am having trouble getting it to go all the way in. The plates that are inside of it are almost impossable to keep centered and inline.
Can I just pull the very bottom gear, one with four sprial gears inside of it, and put it on the bigger gear upside down, then replace the whole thing as a unit? Am I asking for a bigger hastle to do this?
