Question AC Blend Door - Motor Assembly

I have a 99 Expi and when I start out the air will blow cold then if I hit a bump or stop and then take off again it will start blowing extremely hot air. From reading the post here I have figured that it is either the blend door or the actuator. I went to the fold dealer and told them that I needed those parts. The parts will be in Thursday. When I looked I my ticket the part # is
2L3Z-19E616-BA, description was motor assembly. I just want to make sure that is the correct parts before my husband tears my truck apart this weekend. Does the motor assembly include the blend door and the actuator? I called the ford dearler back and he said that he was pretty sure that it included all of it.

Thanks in advance for any answers anyone may give me.

As long as you have a 1999 Expedition without Automatic Temperature Control where you can set the temperature and it does the rest--electronic(no **** to control the temperature, just plus and minus buttons) then that is the part number for the actuator. That does not include the door. I do believe that the door part number is YL7Z-19D963-BA, that number can be verified by your local Ford dealer parts department. If you have ATC heating and a/c that actuator may not be correct. I would just verify everything through your local Ford dealer and make sure. The door definitely does not come with the actuator. I hope this information is helpful.

Thank you so much, I called the ford dealer parts department with the information that you gave me. He did veifiy that the blend door was not included. I explained that I needed this part. He tried to tell me that the blend door was not sold by itself. I finally gave him the part number that you gave me. He found it. Now, I have to go back to the dealership to pay for the part so they can order it.

My husband would have been really upset if he tore the whole dash apart this weekend but didn't have the correct parts to finish the job.

To change the actuator did I need the whole motor assembly?

Thanks again for your help!

The actuator and the motor assembly are one in the same thing. I use to bethe degin engineer for the actuator. I can tell you that the base part number 19e616 is for the actuator. The only exception to this is if there was a cam assembly for the actuator. These were not common, so I would venture to say that this is not the case. The blend door is sold ewither as just a door or as a duct kit which would include the duct, the door and any linkages if there are any. The actuator is usually still sold seperately so that you can order just the actuator, or just the duct kit. From what you are indicating with the temperature swinging from full hot to full cold, that 90% of the time the issue is a broken blenddoor. I'm not certain how service set up the parts as to whether or not you can purchase just the door or as a duct kit. Just make sure to ask if you can return the actuator if its just the blend door. Although if it were me, I would replace the actuator anyway. With all the work it takes to drop the dahs and repair the door, for the relatively small price of the actuator, I would replace it. Why chance it that 6 months from now, the 7 year old actuator fails and you're poor hubby is dropping the dash again. The blend door actuator is the actuator that sees the most action and wear and tear. Hope this helps. If you have questions, please don't hesitate to ask....
