What Diff's do i have
I have a 1997 F250 heavy duty 4x4 ext. cab 8' bed.Powerstroke Diesel.I am replacing the 3.5 gears with 4.1. I need to know what size my front & rear diff's are so i can order the parts. I'f there are some preferred dealers on this forum, i would like to buy from them. Thanks for any reply's. Rick

If the diff covers have never been removed and even if they have, there should be a thin metal tag with some numbers stamped into it. On that tag it will indicate the size rearend. Like on my '01 F250 the tag has 10.5 stamped on it. That indicates a Sterling 10.5. Hope this helps. If you don't have the metal tags, you can always contact a Ford parts department and give them the VIN # and they can look it up for you.
