Going to look at a 2000 F-350 CC LB dually this weekend. Has a bit under 200k on it and was wondering what to look for. Truck has a rebuilt tranny and new clutch. Offered at 13,500. Good deal?? Do I absolutely need an inspection to make sure the truck is ok to buy? Owner worked construction...thanks!
Ya know I think a second set of eyes is a good Idea. I'm in the conctruction biz and My trucks get worked hard. The price is good but ya just never know .
Hope it works out!!
I will try my hardest to get a second opinion. Besides looking for leaks and getting receipts and checking for a dusted compressor wheel anything else to look out for? Truck has airbags in the back also. What is the manueverability of an older F-250 (early 90's) vs a CC LB F-350 dually?? About the same? Oh and how does the dually do in deeper snow? My diesels now do great....
Dually,s here In wyoming have a hard time on the ice. My old truck (85 cc dually, did fine till she saw alot of ice. (had a problem with the front end washing out / not steering even with studs and chains.) and it was a 4x4 but it was a 351 also the extra weight of a 7.3 or a 460 coulda only helped i think. As far as deep snow id just point her and go.... God i miss that truck i hate drunk drivers.
After owning my truck for a couple of months I found a trailer registration for a 16K trailer above the sunvisor. It was registered to a company that just happend to have the previous owners name in it. I now know that the last owner most likely towed with my truck ALL THE TIME!! Because of that heavy use I think that I've probably spent in the range of 8 to 10 grand fixing things. Had I been a member of this site before I bought the truck and did some more research then I most definatley would not have bought the truck that I did. I'm not saying that the truck that you are going to look at is just like mine but I would be VERY careful with buying a used work truck.
If I were to do it over again I would have saved up some more money, spent a whole lot more time looking, looked for a low milage 2003 and had my mechanic look at any truck that I was seriously interested in.
