I am replacing a '90 F-150 Lariat, that I bought new, that has over 335,000 miles on it (original 5.0 engine with no work other that a gasket for the intake manifold). Soon to get a SD 250 CC with v-10, auto, 3.73. I was wondering if one of the K&N filter kits plus a MAS, plus a chip would be in order and wait to do something with exhaust when it needs to be replaced, or just go for something as soon as money is available. Of course, ANYTHING will out pull my old truck, but I feel like a kid in a candy store. Just don't want to throw too much $$ on it with little to show for it. I don't tow, but do use truck to haul parts and tools around rather than use company supplied Aerostar.
Also, didn't go for 6-CD because I rent books on tape at Cracker Barrel. Anyone have suggestions for good aftermarket stereo?
Thanks.
Joe: The most cost-effective mods are:
1. K&N Filter, you can clean the intake up quite a bit.
2. Better flowing muffler, flowmaster or such, in place of the stock muffler.
3. Chip, will gain 31 hp and 45 ft/lb torque, greatly improve shifting in the auto's.
PS, For a stereo, check out the on sale items at Crutchfield.com
Thanks
