ok i just got this truck a few weeks ago, its an 83 f-150 4x4 300 4spd, the guy said the brakes needed bled, now they didnt feel really bad going down the road but i decided to try it out anyway, stupid me i stripped the bleeders, so next thing, i call a buddy down and have him push the pedal while i crack open the line and get the c clamp on the caliper to push fluid out at the same time he is hoping that would work, well got a little air out and then closed it and went to the other side, same thing, now when im driving it the pedal goes to the floor and i have to pump it up to slow down, what could the problem be now? o yea and the calipers didnt want to go back out when we closed the lines and pumped them up, i know that means i need new ones but the doesnt explain the pedal if i pump them up and they work but if i just hit them they dont...any thoughts?
You need new calipers. You absolutely cannot bleed brakes the way you did. The problem is that you have a ton of air in the calipers and you need to bleed them the right way.
yea thats what i figured, it was the only thing i could think of to bleed them since i stripped the bleeders, i used vice grips and all on them things, wouldnt budge, thanks....uh how do i take them off? they are different than my 2wd, they dont have those pins that u tap out

ok i thought so, i took that bolt out, but i still cant fin the pin, i guess ill keep looking when i get back to indiana....im in cali right now at my aunts, till wensday night, im buyin calipers as soon as i get off work thursday, i put over 200 in front brakes on my 2wd, calipers, pads, rotors, wheelbearings, it adds up fast, but this truck has newer rotors and pads so im buyin calipers only, and if i an figure out how to take apart the lock outs im going to grease the bearings too, im thinkin i dont want to mess with those though, they were a pain on my buddys 79
ok i think i found the pin but there is no way to get it out, both sides are bent down....any help is greatly appreciated here because i gotta work in a few hours!! thanks so far for the help, o and the calipers i got look the exact same as my 2wd, i told the guy though that its for a 4x4 and he said it is so i guess well see
