Heater Control
I ran into something interesting today. I was over looking at a friends 50 F1 and he asked me if I knew how to hook up the heater switch. I thought I did. There are 4 wires coming from the motor and it has a 5 position switch. I couldn't get it to operate so I took the motor and switch home to the bench and a search on the web. Found out it is a reversing switch, one rotation for floor heat and oposite rotation for the defrost and both have 2 speeds. Once I figured that out I could connect the motor and verified it worked, then took apart the switch as the contacts were bad. Works good now. Anyone else have this, it looks like maybe an aftermarket device.

I know of '40's Ford/Mercury cars that had that setup, but I didn't know any trucks did. Did his truck have MagicAire? I didn't think they worked that way, and I thought they started being installed in '51. I wonder if it is an "adaptation"?
