Latter Bars

Has anyone put latter bars on their Diesel Truck. Mine is a 1984 F-250 Diesel single cab. Is there a kit or should i just make some? I have read that this helps tremendously when cornering, pulling and stopping a load, and when accelerating without a load.

Thanks Adam

I have seen several kits, they are not cheap.
You see them under all the trucks at a truck pull.

I pull a lot of weight, I have never thought I needed them.
I also do a lot of off road, I think they would be a problem under there in the mud.

Latter Bars?

I would highly not reccomend building your own ladder bars, unless you are better than your average high schooler at geometry. They lock the axle in a set arc which translates to better traction ie... less deflection and twist. Depending on your application I wouldn't reccomend the bolt on type they have been known to shift under heavy torque. Really these are for show in my opinion. If you insist on building your own talk with a chassis builder in your area and see if he would lend a hand. Alot goes into them like knowing where your center pivot on the chassis is and making sure the the insist center of the driveline is correct((heavy)pulling or drag racing). Not being a Ford guru I am assuming your truck has a leaf sprung rear, the factory kind of got this right for most applications they win hands down.

Yeah i have leafs in front and back (4X4) and i would be doing some drag racing. I am going to eventually get around 450-500 hp and around 1000+ torque. I was just reading on DTR and they were saying that they made a huge differnece in slep pulling, drag racing, and just everyday normal driving. The ones they made for their truck were not lower than any of the axles so they were not worried about hitting them when off roading. Put if i got them they would be latter on being as i would not be able to make them myself to where they would preform right.

Thanks Adam
