2 Batteries...1 Alternator?

Hey Guys, Posted in another thread, thought I'd post here too.
Quick newb question on this topic. I want to run two batteries (hopefully Optimas), and one alternator. Would this work? What I'm trying to do is run my truck off one battery and the other run all my accessories. But be able to have the truck turned off and run the accessories battery and not affect the other one, if that makes sense

. Any diagrams would help a lot too.

I believe what ya need is an Isealator (sp) and it come with directions

Yep NAPA sells them for around $50, and Optimas will fit sideways in the stock battery tray.

Yep, you need an isolator. It will charge both batteries, but the draw on them is kept separate.

depending on the type of accesories you want to run, you may consider a capacitor...

If you are planning to run accessories for long periods with the truck not running, I suspect you need a deep cycle battery. Not sure if Optimas are deep cycle.

they do make optimas in deep cycle....the 'blue top' ones are.
