overdrive

I have a 5.4l in a 2000 e350 cube van/box truck. I have a 300 gallon tank of driveways sealer in the back that is bolted to the frame. Should I ust the overdrive OFF feature when the tank has sealer in it. What is the purpose of this button I was a little confused by the owner manuals description. thanks

My understanding is that it just keeps it out of overdrive.

If the transmission starts shifting in and out of OD, then I hit the OD Off button.

Yep, when it starts searching for gears shift it out of OD, also in town when you are going under about 45mph keep it off.

yeah always keep od off when under 45. mine likes to shift at about 43, if im running under 50 i usually keep it off..it does the same thing as if you select 2, or 1, on your shifter. it'll just keep it out of 4th (the overdrive) gear...lets see 300 x roughly 10lbs a gallon id say? 3000lbs. 1.5 tons is probably near what your payload rating is around. i really wouldnt worry too much about it .just like said previously, if its searching for gears consistantly, push the button there and keep her out of od! hope that helps! later!!
