Well guys,
I did all the research I'm gonna do and have decided I DO want good customer service and am willing to pay for it. So, I got up off my wallet and ordered my Superchip from you guys at the online store here. It's going in a '93 F150 XLT Supercab with a 5.0 and AOD. One question I have for you. Numerous places on this board I have seen that I should expect 27HP gain. Other places says 10%. This engine stock definately is NOT a 270HP engine (wish it was) So which gain should I anxiously await? BTW... the only modification is a 3" Gibson Catback Side Swept exhaust. Thanks in advance for your response.
Basically, the gains you see listed are dyno pull results. Depending on your gearing, engine wear, etc, results will vary. The rule of thumb for a chip is: if you don't see your engine's results listed, use 10-15% for a guestimate. I always say 10% to be on the conservative side.
Call me about your code, can't find a valid code for your order. For your year, look for one of the following two code patterns (L = letter, N = number):
LLLN
or
LNLN
For your year, the code should be on wiring harness plug going into the computer or on the computer itself. Its not the code listed on the harness itself. Also, look on the radiator for any "calibration codes". These are a long code number that the dealer puts on the vehicle if they've reflashed the computer.
If all else fails, call me and we'll do a three-way with Superchips. Our toll free number should be on your confirmation email. :-)

Hey Ken,
I see there is someone else on here that you are trying to get codes for on a 93 F150 with a 5.0 (DEE). Hopefully our call today will help them too!
93F150 XLT Supercab
5.0 AOD
K&N, Gibson, and soon to be Superchipped!
Good talking to you yesterday. I had inquiries for 4 1993 F150s in the last 48 hours and placed orders for 3 of them yesterday. Really weird coincidence. And in 2 of the 3 orders, the stock computer code was a major pain to find... :-(

Ken, u guru of trucks,,, my off road,, has the i think 3.55 and u have the 3.73 and such,,,, so the off road is made to pull,, torqe, instead of take off speed. explains why in my 99 offroad with goodyear ATS's speed off without squealing. am i right?
Actually, that gearing reduces pulling power on the low-end. Improper gearing can make it difficult to start off in sand or mud without spinning the tires.

so what is the purpose of the offroad,, if it cant pull ur boat out of a slue. if the gear ratio of the offroad ruduces pulling power what good is it. its fun to cross fields doing 70mph and across the frozen lake jumping drifts at 40mph but it bought it believeing it would tug out and pull any duck boat i put in. u say the off road reduces pulling power.... if so,, what does it give?
I think you misunderstood me. I didn't say offroad reduces pulling power. I meant that 3.55 reduces pulling power on the low-end as compared to the 3.73 you meantioned. The wider the ratio (4.11) the better low-end, the lower (3.25) the worse the low end is. I did not specify that the 3.55 or 3.73 is better. No one gear ratio is better. If you're running 33 or 35 inch tires, you'll need a wide ratio but you're still not going to get good low-end grunt with huge tires. The point is to have the proper ratio. I would never use 4.11 gearing (9 inch) on an offroad truck unless I had large tires... otherwise I'd just end up spinning the wheels. If I were running 2.75, it would be great for mileage but I'd have a difficult time towing larger loads. Using 4x4 to pull a boat out of a lake and using it to climb a hill are two different things. Then again... I'm running a 390 V8 in the 67 so HP and torque overcomes a lot of the gearing problems.
