So my truck is a 69 360 with a points ignition. What are my options for upgrading. I know that msd make one and you can convert your current dizzy. Can you guys give me some ideas or options?
How much money do you want to spend? The Pertronix would be the cheapest and they work well. If you want to really have adjustablity then a new MSD dizzy would get you what you want(at a steeper price).
I'd go Pertronix, as the high cost of a new MSD is just not justified unless you really need it.
Do a Pertronix II if it was me. Then you wouldn't need a MSD 6A box. And if you cross wire it by accident, it won't fry. And you can leave the key on. JMO

If you decide to get a new distributor, consider our custom curved Duraspark Distributor built with our new Full Length Oil Impregnated Bronze Bushing. The full length bushing improves timing stability and spark scatter. If stock appearance is not an issue, take a look at our one piece D.U.I. Distributor. Whether you choose the Duraspark or the D.U.I., we curve each on a distributor machine based on your engine combination. Please see them at:
wow, sure is more ways to improve than I thought. I was going go duraspark but the modules seem to sometime have problems. I think dui setup would be easiest. Still doing some searching.

I did the Duraspark. If you can find an original Ford module in a boneyard you shouldn't have any troubles. Plus, if any of the others fail, chances are slim that you'll be able to walk into "mom and pops parts" and get a replacement. Whereas the DS modules are a common part.

This is due to the Full Length Oil Impregnated Bronze Bushing used during assembly. This is not utilized in stock replacement Durasparks.
As they do fail, it's a known problem hence why I run Crane.
With 3 seperate vehicles running total over 900,000 miles with zero problems
or failures vs friends with DS systems that have failed, you decision.
Even MSD's are known to fail.
No brand pissing war here JMO's on what works for me, old topic beat to death many times over on this forum.
can I run a duraspark dizzy(from napa for less than $50), msd coil, and msd 6al box (in place of DS module)? msd sells a harness for for duraspark and 6al box. It's either that, crane conversion, or dui.

You could mix and match but anytime a MSD part is added to my vehicles i'll end up with a failure, ask Greg (GTEX) how many MSD's have failed plus a few other members on this forum.
If you have a good stock points dizzy with good bushings just install a trigger system to your liking replacing points.
