should I change tires

I bought a set of BFG 295/75/16s for a 99.5 F-350. I bought the truck to pull my 10K fithwheel. I towed it this weekend and thought it would do better than it did. It just seemed like it was stuggleing. the truck is stock. I am fairly light footed but when I would put my foot in it the EGTs were ip around 1000. It does a little better with over drive off but I would have though the truck would have towed in OD. Also it has the 3:73 rear end. Should I have gone with the stock 265s for towing? Is that making that big of a differance.

Thanks
Paul

Yes, your larger tires are throwing off your overall gear ratio. If you want your performance back, you're going to have to either go back to stock tires, or re-gear your front and rear differentials to a lower ratio (4.30 to 4.56 should be great).

I looked on BFG web site before I bought the tires and there is only about 1.5" diference in the 265 and the 295. At the time I did not think that would make a big difference. I wanted white letters so I went with them I liked the looks, but I guess I am going to have to go with different tires.

Anyone have suggestions on goo towing tires that are 265/75/16 and look good.
