The power door switches on each door and the unlock feature on the factory alarm fob do not unlock or lock the doors at all but I can hear the relay (to the right of the fuse box someplace) clicking.I have had it to a local mechanic and he said it probably was not the relay because he can hear it, it must be some module.I have searched the forums and dont like what I am reading, I hope it isnt the Vehicle Security Module. I have replaced relays that seem to have been woking in other vehicles and the new one has fixed the problem. Should I try to replace the relay before going to the dealer for the vsm, it is out of warranty. 2002 F250 7.3L crewcab.
Can you hear the locks trying to work in the doors. If you can there is a fairly simple fix for that. If this is your problem here is the fix. Second page has some good pics.

What fixed your issue? I fixed the actuator on all four doors and that worked. I now have a different issue which sounds like yours. I hear a click from behind the radio when I try to lock with the door switch or the key fob. I haven't noticed whether they auto-lock in drive, but will test that as well. Someone posted that wiggling their gear shifter caused the locks to auto lock.

Have not fixed the problem yet it, do not want to spend the money on a VSM. I will unlock the doors with the key until something else related to the VSM starts to give me problems, it has been like this for 8 months, maybe I will try to replace the relay anyway when I get some time to see if that is the problem. I will post when I do that but this is on the back burner for now.

They've stopped auto-locking as well. I'll check the driver's door actuator incase it's acting as the master as suggested.
