Battery light came on
My battery light came on while traveling this weekend. Stayed on for about 60 miles then went off. Has not come back on since. Anyone experienced this before?

My daughters ZX2(escort) battery lite would come on whenever the tach read 3k or more. I was reving it in driveway and like clockwork whenever it hit 3k it would come on and when I checked battery voltage over 3k it read 12.5 volts and 14.5 at idle. Put in new(rebuilt) alternator from napa and fixed it. Parts guy said it was probably regulator. Was replacable as it was affixed to outer of alt. Cost almost as much as whole Alt. Car had almost 100 thousand.

An update on my battery light. It seems that I am a moron and didnt practice the simple rules of disconnecting the battery and when one of my wrenches touched the bottom fusible link of the wiring harness module it shorted it and the voltage regulator out. So now I have a new link and a new alt both of which worked fine before my goofy blunder. So a lesson the wise is disconnect the battery before performing maintenance.
