I was at my local ford dealer today wandering around waiting for my ordered 08 V10 to show up. I noticed two different rear diff covers on the 08's. The diesels have an alumminum finned cover and the gassers have the regular painted steel.
What's up with that? More cooling needed because the diesel exhaust flames are heating up the rear end?
Anybody know why or the logic behind the different covers?
The diesels are more likely to be towing heavy would be my guess.
In case anyone reading this thread is interested, these finned covers fit the older Super Duty trucks as well, and can be bought much cheaper than most of the aftermarket offerings.
