went to get alignment, said I need new camber caster bushings, which look easy to put in. They are smooth in the middle, and I was wondering if anyone has done this. These are adjustable as to where the stock ones are fixed. Any help would be appreciated. you guys have saved me a lot of time and money and have always come through. These bushings look easy, but why did ford not make originals adjustable.
Most of the adjustable bushings I have seen will not stay where you put them.
I do enough off road/rough road driving I went with the stock numbered bushings.
Nothing to move and get out of adjustment.
Yes it takes longer and costs more to set it that way, but it will also stay in alignment much longer.
With the cost of tires, the cost is repaid in a very short time.
This is also one of the reasons I only go to Ford for an alignment, they usually have an assortment of bushings in stock.
how much did that cost you. Now I see why they wanted to change to the adj. bushings. They didn't want to go through the time to do it right. I thought they were bad, but they are just a piece of metal. I'll call Ford tomorrow, man I know they are going to put it to me. Why do the adj. bushings not stay in place.
went reluctantly to ford dealer with alignment report, they said they would have to put adj. bushings in as far out as i am. Actually, i think i only need it on the right side and it will bring left side in.
Does your truck have a serious front tire stance like this / \ from the front when you drive straight forward with the wheels pointed straight ahead and stop?
How much clearance between the stop block and the front axle?
I only had about 5/8" clearance there.
Thought I needed new front springs to get more clearance because the ride was terrible with it bottoming out at every bump.
When I dropped the front spring hanger out of the frame to change the springs, I found the top bushing was gone on both sides and the hanger was worn about through the bolt.
The springs did very little to raise the front, but the new front spring hangers got me about 1.5" more clearance between the bump block and the axle.
They also got rid of the strange clunk when I hit a bump that I could never find.
